After being given a mission to recover a chest of gold, a company of Black infantrymen desert their unit after the Spanish-American War when they realize that their sadistic commanding officer will kill them and claim the treasure for himself. With the commander on their tail, the company rides into town, and the tight-knit group finds itself headed for a showdown.
