The Dead Don't Hurt

In the 1860s on the western U.S. frontier, fiercely independent Vivienne Le Coudy (Vicky Krieps) begins a passionate relationship with Danish immigrant Holger Olsen (Viggo Mortensen). After meeting in San Francisco, she joins him at his home near quiet Elk Flats, Nevada, to build a life together. The Civil War erupts, prompting Olsen to fight for the Union and leaving Vivienne alone in a town ruled by corrupt Mayor Rudolph Schiller (Danny Huston) and ruthless rancher Alfred Jeffries (Garret Dillahunt). Alfred's violent son Weston (Solly McLeod) relentlessly pursues her, but Vivienne resists. Upon Olsen's return, they confront their changes amid a tragic clash of revenge and forgiveness in an unforgiving world of ruthless men.
