A French television crew has settled into an inn in a small village in Romania to film a documentary trilogy about the survival of traditions during baptism, wedding, and funeral ceremonies. While the filming of the first two subjects goes relatively smoothly, the last one poses a challenge: no one is willing to die. The crew then decides to stage a funeral, involving the superstitious villagers in their macabre game.
