The Kiss

Set in 1913 Denmark at the onset of World War I, the film follows Anton, a cavalry officer aiming to excel in his military training. After assisting a local baron in resolving a difficult situation, Anton is invited to dine at the baron's grand castle, where he meets Edith, the baron's daughter who uses a wheelchair. As they spend increasing amounts of time together, Edith develops romantic feelings for Anton, who grapples with understanding whether his own feelings for her stem from genuine affection or pity. Throughout their relationship, the looming threat of the First World War adds tension to their circumstances.
